The company was based on the construction and sale of airplanes to private companies, this company was established at the beginning of the century in 1909. They sold their patents to wealthy people for an elevated amount at the moment.

During the year 1910, the design of their aircraft changed. They moved the place of certain pieces, such as the elevator, which moved from the front to the back. They also added rear wheels which helped the plane to have more stability and made the planes faster and easier to control. This plane was called “Model B”, which was the update of the “Model A”.

American aviation began to use these aircraft. They were the first in the world to create an agency of aviation. So they created the “Wright Company”, with an aircraft patent called “Type Wright Model A”.

Principles On Which The Company Was Based

The Company was mainly based on protecting its patents. They wanted to prevent that any other company built or designed pieces or aircrafts similar to theirs.

Therefore, they sold their assets to wealthy individuals. With the money obtained from these sellings, they developed new aircraft and new parts that helped to improve aviation in general.

In 1915 one of the brothers died, Wilbur, the other sold his part of the company to entrepreneurs. The company’s name changed to The Glenn L. Martin Company, which continued designing airplanes and came up with more than 120 aircraft.

Museum For History

But despite all of this, they have also lead to many advances, some of them related to the world of aviation. These advances have really changed the way we travel through the air. These advances might have happened during the World War I and the World War II, or in between. Here is a list of some things present in wars that affected aviation.

The Air Combat Begins

Before World War I, there was no aerial combat, the fight was done only by land or sea, but not air. This caused the death of many soldiers, so the expected results were not obtained, meaning that they did not reach their war objectives.

This happened until the World War I, where the French aviator Roland Garros attached a weapon to his plane and tested it. This test was successful. But it was not until the aviator Adolphe Pegoud who was also French, finally got recognized as the first one to use this technique in war, when he won 5 victories in combat. Sadly, he died a short time later in an air combat in Germany.

Red Baron
